Member groups

A group is a label you put on a set of members. Allotmin comes with one called "Committee", and you can have up to eight.

Set them up in Settings → Members. Put people into them from the member's own record.

What groups are for

Three things, and the second two are why eight is a sensible number:

• Emailing. Each group gets its own button in the Messaging Centre, so "email the committee" is one click.
• Charging. An additional charge can be pointed at a group rather than everybody — a water levy for the people on the water rota.
• Discounting. A concession works the same way. Make a group called "Over 60s", point the concession at it, and from then on the whole of the admin is adding somebody to a group.

That last one is worth planning around. If you give a reduced rate to some members, the group is how Allotmin knows who they are, so it is worth naming the group after the reason rather than the amount — "Over 60s" rather than "Half price". The amount may change; the reason will not.

Removing a group

Deleting a group takes the label off everybody who had it. Anything already invoiced stays as it was — a discount somebody has already been given is not clawed back.
